Referral

Children are referred to our service primarily by their parents or caregivers. A referral from a professional is NOT required. To complete a referral for your child, please complete the form on our Contact page. We will get back to you as soon as we can! Once a referral has been made and we have been in contact with you, we will send you our welcome pack. This includes important information about our service and the forms that you will need to complete before your first session with us. Feel free to contact us via email if you need any help along the way. We are more than happy to help!

Initial Consultation

Our first session will be an initial consultation. This will take place in our clinic, at home or at school and is where we get to know you and your child! During the initial session, we will discuss your reason for referring your child, as well as all of the important things about your child's and your family's history. This is also where we learn about your child's interests and strengths, so that we can tailor future sessions to your child. We will let you know the fees involved with our service, and if appropriate, some short screeners or assessment can be completed in this session. This is also a great time to ask any initial questions that you have!

Assessment and Feedback

At the end of our initial session, we will talk about what assessment would be most beneficial for your child and organise a booking for this assessment to take place. Once the assessment is completed, we score and analyse results, write an assessment report and organise a session to go through the results with you and your family. With your permission, we are also happy to share these results with your child's other support services, including teachers and other relevant health providers. From here, we use the information we now have to plan suitable intervention.

Therapy Sessions

In therapy sessions, we work together with children and their families to set goals and plan our therapy to achieve these goals. We provide high quality, evidence-based intervention and work with families along the way so that they are empowered to help their children achieve their goals. These sessions take place in our clinic, at home or at school, and we aim to work with families to organise a time that works for you!

Progress Monitoring

We continually monitor and modify your child's intervention to ensure they are making progress towards their personalised goals. We usually offer 8-week blocks of intervention, although this depends on each individual child's needs. At the end of an intervention block, we evaluate progress with our client's family and make a plan regarding further intervention with us, or continued support at home/ school. We are also able to offer check-in sessions after intervention blocks. Ultimately, our aim is to get your child achieving their communication goals, and to minimise their need to receive support and intervention!

Discharge

After evaluating your child's progress, we collaborate with families when deciding the next step for your child. If we agree that your child has achieved their current goals, it may be time to discharge them from our service. When this occurs, families will be provided with a discharge report, detailing their child's participation and progress within our service. We are always available for questions and to provide further check-ins or support after your child has been discharged from our service. Just send us an email or give us a call!

Teacher Support & Education

Parent support and education is an important part of your child's journey towards better communication. Consultation with Other Professionals

We are always eager to work with other professionals to provide holistic and multidisciplinary support for children. At times, we may contact other health professionals who work with our clients, such as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Paediatricians, etc. We do this with family's permission to ensure we are providing the best possible service to our clients and to ensure our therapy plans compliment any other intervention your child may be receiving.
